The Congressional hearing today between Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee proved both men are liars. McNamee, about lies in the past to different investigators, committees, etc.
Clemens, about taking Steroids.
The only physical evidence available appears to be the needles provided by McNamee, which may or may not be tainted with Clemens’ blood. Clemens acknowledged that his DNA could very possibly be on those needles as he testified that McNamee injected him with B12. McNamee steadfastly denied that he ever injected anyone with B12.
Andy Pettitte’s affidavit was read into record today and his account of what went down, concurs at least generally with McNamee. He said that he felt bad having to tell the truth because Roger Clemens is his good friend. But, he also said that he had to tell the truth because some day he will stand and answer to God, and nobody else.
Pettitte was said by Clemens to be a very credible person, an honest person and a person who would not lie. Clemens said that Pettite must have “misheard” him when he told Andy that he had done steroids.
The Congressmen can do and say what they want. There may not be enough evidence to prove Roger did take steroids, however I am inclined to believe McNamee’s account. I say this because of Andy Pettitte’s testimony under oath. He had nothing to gain by squealing on Clemens, he had no motive.
If Barry Bonds goes to jail, Clemens better be in the cell next to him.
